Where to Wed? Gifts for Groomsmen and other Mundane Issues…

The latest in my sister’s wedding plans is securing the reception site.   The hottest properties can get snapped up a year in advance.   She’d like to get married outdoors in a garden setting but is afraid to be dependent on the whims of Mother Nature.  There is one place that has an outdoor court with many solid overhangs for shelter.  Seems to be the best of both worlds.  And better yet there is a back up room within the main building that can hold the group should more severe weather pop up.  She’s working to get that one locked now.

Then she was onto getting gifts for the wedding party.  You know I didn’t realize how taxing it could be to find attractive gifts for your bridesmaids and presents for the best man and groomsmen.  It’s easy to spend up to $100 per person to get something very nice.  If you have a large party, you can easily be looking at upwards of $1,000 for these gifts.  That’s a lot of burgers!

I’m still not big on these formal affairs but admire the zeal with which my sister is approaching the project.  I’m now just setting my sights on a more minor step – just meeting a nice guy.  I know there are some out there.
